Muscle Up

A muscle up is not a very high pull-up: it is an explosive pull, a wrist transition and a dip, chained together. Almost everyone gets stuck at the transition, and almost always because the pull never got high enough.

Chin-ups

Level 45/100 3-4 × 3-10 reps

Chin-ups are the pull-up variant with a supinated grip (palms toward you). They are usually the first full pull-up beginners achieve because the grip recruits the biceps more efficiently and lat activation feels more intuitive for most people.

Pull-ups

Level 50/100 3-5 × 3-10 reps

Pull-ups (pronated) are the fundamental vertical pull in calisthenics. With palms facing away, the lats work through a slightly different range than chin-ups, with less biceps help and more demand on the wide back and teres major.

Explosive pull-ups are the plyometric version of pull-ups. You pull so hard on the way up that the hands leave the bar at the top before re-gripping to lower. Fundamental for back power and a direct progression toward the muscle-up.

L-Sit Pull-ups

Level 65/100 3-4 × 3-8 reps

L-sit pull-ups combine a pull-up with an L-sit (legs extended horizontally forward). That multiplies demand on the core and hip flexors while keeping full back and arm work—one of the most complete pulling exercises in calisthenics.

Strict Muscle-up

Level 85/100 3-5 × 1-5 reps

The strict muscle-up is one of the most iconic calisthenics skills. In one fluid rep you go from hanging under the bar to supporting above it, combining a pull and a dip continuously. "Strict" means no kipping or leg drive.
