90 Degree Push-up
The 90-degree push-up (or V-sit press to handstand) is one of the hardest skills in all of calisthenics. You start in an L-sit or V-sit and press up into a handstand entirely on the hands, with the feet never touching the ground.
Why it is so hard
It combines L-sit compression strength, HSPU pressing strength, plus freestanding handstand balance and awareness. No other move demands shoulder pressing, hip compression, and handstand balance at once.
Execution
From an L-sit supported on the hands (feet forward at 90° or more), brace core and shoulders hard and begin lifting hips and feet upward, gradually straightening until vertical in a handstand. Fully controlled—no momentum.
Note
Only a handful of elite calisthenics athletes worldwide can perform this cleanly. It is the ceiling of no-equipment pushing skills.
