Neutral Pull-ups
Neutral pull-ups use a neutral grip (palms facing each other, like holding handles). This is the most joint-friendly grip for shoulder, elbow, and wrist, and balances lat, biceps, and brachialis recruitment.
Joint advantage
Neutral places the ulna and radius in an intermediate position (neither fully supinated nor pronated), reducing stress on the biceps tendon and elbow. Recommended if chin-ups or pull-ups bother the elbow.
Execution
Grip the neutral handles (or rings with palms facing). From a full hang, pull with elbows out and slightly back. Chin clears the handles. Lower with control.
Brachialis activation
Neutral grip strongly hits the brachialis (deep arm flexor), which contributes to elbow flexion and is less emphasized by chin-ups and pull-ups.
Recommendation
Excellent weekly rotation variant to train the arms from a different angle.
