Straddle Front Lever
Straddle front lever sits between advanced tuck and full front lever. Legs are open in a V (straddle) and fully extended, increasing the lever versus tuck but easier than full because open legs slightly reduce the moment of inertia.
WHY STRADDLE IS EASIER THAN FULL: Opening the legs in a V brings the legs' center of mass closer to the axis of rotation (the bar), reducing the torque the muscles must overcome—often ~20-30% easier than full front lever.
Execution
From advanced tuck, extend the knees and open the legs into a wide V (wider = easier). Body fully horizontal, face toward the floor. Arms fully extended, shoulders active. Core and glutes maxed. Hold for the target time.
Progression within straddle
Start with a very wide V and gradually close the legs until they are together (= full front lever).
Goal
3×10-20 seconds of clean straddle front lever before full.
