Push

Archer Push-ups

Advanced Level 65/100

Archer push-ups are a direct progression toward the one-arm push-up. One hand does nearly all the pressing while the other arm extends sideways as a guide—named for the posture of an archer drawing a bow.

Execution

From a very wide plank (~double shoulder width), lean laterally to one side bending that elbow while the other arm extends fully. Almost all work is on the bent arm. The extended arm may touch with the fingertips for minimal balance, but must NOT press. Switch sides.

Progression

Gradually reduce extended-arm support: palm → fingers → thumb → nothing = assisted one-arm push-up.

Core

Resist rotation at all times. The oblique on the working side fires hard to keep alignment.
